The Operations Manager is responsible for managing Eating Europe Tours’ Amsterdam Branch. We are seeking a strong project manager who is passionate about Amsterdam, Dutch Culture and the local cuisine and has the creativity and eye for storytelling to create unforgettable food experiences and tours building upon the award winning tours we currently have in Amsterdam

Eating Europe Tours, is the largest operator of culinary day tours in Europe with operations in Rome, London, Florence, Amsterdam, and Prague with new locations opening up in 2018. The company specializes in immersive food tours, cookery classes, craft beer and cocktail tours.

The position has a number of key responsibilities, these include:

  • Oversee the direction and success of the Amsterdam Branch
  • Manage existing cadre of excellent food tour guides and recruit and train new tour guides as needed
  • Project manage the launch of all new tours
  • Oversee all invoice collection and reconciliation with all of our restaurant partners
  • Work closely with the Marketing, Sales and Client Services teams across the organization
  • Knowledge share with Operation Manager counterparts in other Eating Europe locations
  • Conduct market research and support with local marketing efforts and look for growth opportunities within Amsterdam
  • Monitor the profitability of each product by analyzing and assessing the cost basis for all products and make needed pricing and cost adjustments to align with financial benchmarks
  • Utilize ongoing analysis of tour occupancy rates to identify sales gaps and marketing needs and report back insights back to the Global Operations Manager

Job qualifications

  • Comfortable in team leader/management role in an SME environment
  • Proven work experience as a project manager, travel or hospitality professional, ground operations manager, or related: 2 years minimum
  • Strong verbal and written fluency in English
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication abilities
  • Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills
  • Familiarity with Google and Microsoft applications, particularly Google Apps & Excel
  • Event management background a major plus
  • A positive, energetic and outgoing person who is comfortable managing others in an inspirational and encouraging way
  • Passionate about Amsterdam’s history, culture, cuisine
  • Self-starter who can thrive in a remote and independent work environment
  • Motivated by achieving results through their team and feel at ease negotiating with suppliers
  • Experience managing a budget and tracking and reconciling expenses
  • Speak both English and Dutch fluently
  • Have lived in Amsterdam for at least 1 year, ideally at least 3 years
